From October 28, new candidates for the Barclays JetBlue Plus Card* and the Barclays JetBlue business card* have a chance to earn 100,000 TrueBlue Points via an updated Issuer Welcome Bonus.

Now, a person who applies for and is approved for one of the two cards is eligible for the following: Earn 50,000 bonus points after spending $ 1,000 on purchases and paying the full annual fee, both within the 90 first days. Earn an additional 50,000 bonus points after spending a total of $ 6,000 on purchases in the first 12 months.

This represents a significant increase over previous card welcome bonuses and is the greatest point potential ever for either card. The most recent offers for the cards were as follows:

  • Barclays JetBlue Plus Card: Earn 40,000 bonus points after spending $ 1,000 on purchases in the first 90 days and paying the annual fee and 5,000 additional points when you renew your card each year
  • Barclays JetBlue Business Card: Earn up to 60,000 bonus points. Earn 50,000 points after spending $ 1,000 in the first 90 days and earn 10,000 points when a purchase is made on an employee card in the first 90 days.

For someone considering one of these cards but not sure whether to take the plunge, our tests show award flights are as low as 5,000 points for a one-way economy flight, so budget-conscious travelers in particular can do a lot of use out of any of the updated welcome bonus cards.

The JetBlue Plus Card, in addition to its generous new welcome bonus, has the following attributes:

  • Earn 6 points per dollar spent on qualifying JetBlue purchases
  • Earn 2 points per dollar in restaurants and grocery stores
  • Earn 1 point per dollar on all other purchases
  • First checked baggage free for the primary cardholder and up to 3 accompanying persons on flights operated by JetBlue when using your JetBlue Plus card
  • Earn 5,000 bonus points every year after your account anniversary
  • Achieve Elite Mosaic status after spending $ 50,000 or more on purchases each calendar year with your card

The JetBlue Business Card comes with the following attributes:

  • Earn 6 points per dollar spent on qualifying JetBlue purchases

Final result

If you fly frequently with JetBlue and can meet the spending requirements to get the welcome bonus on either card, this could be a great opportunity to save a lot on your future flights. The value of the offer far exceeds the annual card fees.

JetBlue is not part of an airline alliance and you cannot transfer TrueBlue points to other hotel partners or airlines except Hawaiian Airlines. If flying JetBlue or Hawaiian isn’t a convenient option for you, look for a plane card with a welcome bonus more in line with your travel preferences.
