WAWA, Pa., Nov. 09, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Wawa, Inc., today announced that this Veterans Day, the company will once again offer any size hot coffee or free fountain drink at veterans, active military and their families, all day, no military ID required. This will take place on Friday, November 11, 2022, at 975 Wawa stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, DC and Florida.

“It’s our annual tradition to greet the military on Veterans Day with a hot cup of coffee or a fountain drink to thank them for all they do to serve our communities,” said Chris Gheysens, President and CEO of Wawa. “In his 12e year, we provided military personnel overseas with a Taste of home through our coffee care packages, and we are passionate about continuing this tradition for years to come.

Operation Taste of home care packages are an annual tradition hosted by Wawa Associates and supported by the USO of Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey and Central Florida who together help send over 15,000 care packages to our currently deployed military. Throughout October and November, Wawa associates and members of the USO, Air National Guard, and Army National Guard collected more than 15,000 care packages during five assembly events to send to our military men and women overseas. Additionally, the Wawa Foundation provided a $50,000 grant to Central Florida USO for the Center Military Family Strengthening Projectwhich funds various programs, including a back-to-school backpacking program, Tango Mike Drops, and vacation programming.

Wawa has sent hundreds of thousands of coffee mugs and care packages to our service members overseas who have written in requesting them. Partnering with the USO to officially send care packages to troops is just one of the many ways Wawa shows his support and appreciation for the great men and women who serve our country.
