Sacramento CA Weekend Events Guide: Music, Food, Festivals
Sacramento is full of things to do. And as the last remnants of summer heat continue, get ready to enjoy a fun weekend outdoors. Or take a break from the heat and venture inside for a good laugh or a stroll through the museum.
Then, as the weekend draws to a close, volunteer your time and feed Sacramento’s homeless clients.
Here’s a list of fun things to do in Sacramento this weekend.
Sacramento comedy spot
If you love hip hop and improvisation, head to the Sacramento Comedy Spot for a freestyle rap show. The three-member Masters of Rap Improv cast receives a one-word suggestion from an audience member to inspire freestyle rap, and then the group performs improvised rap-based scenes.

Stay after for YOU! The Musical, an entirely improvised musical comedy based on the suggestion of the audience. The 60-minute performance presents a full story where everything is made up on the spot, including the lyrics, music and dance.

Hagan Community Dog Park
Join the Cordova Recreation and Park District for an interactive and fun day designed especially for dogs and the people who love them. Doggie Day in the Park will begin at noon at Hagan Community Dog Park.
The event will feature information booths, puppy exploration, contests and prizes.
Fair Oaks Park
Get ready to enjoy live music, food, drink and more at the 16th Annual Fair Oaks Festival at the Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District. This year’s one-day event will feature pop-up events in the village of Fair Oaks in Fair Oaks.
The fun begins at 7:30 am with a pancake breakfast at the Grange in Orangevale. The main festival, which starts at 3 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m., will take place at Fair Oaks Park.
For those who aren’t ready to join in on the festivities in person, much of the event will be available for live streaming.

Saturday September 18 to Sunday September 19

Enjoy Louisiana food, music and entertainment at the 2021 Crayfish and Catfish Festival. Alligator, frog legs, okra, jambalaya and more will be available at the Southside day event Park.
Tickets can be used for either day of the event.

Get ready to celebrate 27 years of great beer at the 2021 California Brewers Festival. The event, which starts at 1 p.m. and continues until 4 p.m., will raise funds for local children’s charities.
Enjoy beer and wine, food, a live DJ and more at Discovery Park.

Spend the day at the Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day at the California Museum to celebrate the return of the nation’s history, arts and culture. Enjoy self-guided tours, guided tours, crafts, and a scavenger hunt.
Prior registration is required to attend.
William B. Pond Recreation Area
The American River Parkway Foundation is set to present the American River Clean Up, the largest annual cleanup event in collaboration with the California Coastal Commission. Volunteer to remove debris from several areas along the river.
Registration for a specific cleaning location is required. The event will start at 9 a.m. and end at noon.
Saturday September 18
Join Sac Porchfest for a free, community-driven afternoon of local music and comedy in the city center. The artists are scheduled to perform throughout the afternoon from 1 pm on the porch “stages” in the Boulevard Park neighborhood, near the intersection of I Street and 21 Street.
Bring your own food and drinks or support nearby businesses.

Join the Sacramento Gratitude in Motion charity and volunteer to help the homeless. The event, which starts at 4 p.m. and ends at 7 p.m., will provide food and clothing to homeless customers in Sacramento.
