Rapson crowned best baker in ‘BAY Bake-off
GREEN BAY, Wisconsin (WBAY) – What started out as a simple resort-wide email about who the best baker in WBAY is has quickly grown into fierce competition among station employees.
A message sent by Cami Rapson of Action 2 News on June 30th invited all employees to participate in the ‘BAY Bake-off’ on Wednesday July 14th.
Soon after, several employees started thinking about their best sweet dish.
In the days leading up to the challenge, members of the Action 2 News team took to social media to ring up the challenge, claiming they were “warming up” ahead of time, and some left clues as well. on the content of their dishes.
None of the employees told each other what they were planning to do for the challenge, only showing off their sweet preparations when they arrived Wednesday afternoon.
However, Rapson decided to show previews of his dish throughout the day on social media.
The dishes were brought in at 2 p.m., and employees had less than 2 hours to decide which of a dozen recipes were their top three choices, by filling out a ballot which was then counted by Rapson, reporter Megan. Kernan and 6pm TV news producer Krystal. Terminus.
During the vote, conversations took place as to whether Rapson’s dish was considered baking, as his recipe, called Fun Magic, featured a funnel cake, which is fried and not baked.
Votes were counted shortly before 4 p.m., and the results were broadcast live on the WBAY-TV Facebook page.
In the end, Rapson’s dish came first, with three finalists also named. Digital content producer and editor Krystal Frasier was the first finalist with Pecan Pie Brownies, while journalists Josh Peguero and Megan Kernan placed second and third, respectively.
Peguero’s dish was a carrot cake with homemade frosting, while Kernan used a family recipe – the butter cake.
