Food Systems Dialogues: Health Discussions
More information: Here
- Time / date: June 3-10, 2021
- Format: Virtual talks with dialogue, plenaries and one-hour talks on health
In the context of the World Health Assembly and in contribution to the Food Systems Summit, WHO is opening a space for “health conversations” as an engaging opportunity to raise awareness about how food systems work. and health are linked and why food systems transformation is necessary to achieve health and well-being for all. The week will be “kicked off” with a high-level independent dialogue on United Nations food systems,
“Healthy Food Systems: For People, Planet and Prosperity”.
It is expected that these health talks contribute and encourage the actors of the Food Systems Summit to continue to be actively involved in the preparatory process for the summit and to work for a better integration of health elements in their work, by encouraging Member States and partners to organize dialogues national and / or independent on food systems with health at the center.
The year of the United Nations Food Systems Summit, this dialogue and the health discussions aim to bring together experts and actors from all health and food communities to explore how a new narrative on health and food systems can be used to stimulate the action and commitments, from policies to investments, that deliver better health outcomes for humans, animals and the planet.
Now more than ever, a systemic discourse on food and health must be reflected in the language of intersecting and aligned global processes – such as the G7, G20, UNFSS, COP26 and Nutrition for Growth. The results of this independent dialogue will be formally submitted as a contribution to the 2021 United Nations Food Systems Summit.
