2022 Chicago Tribune Holiday Cookie Contest: How to Enter

There’s nothing quite like a favorite cookie to give us that instant snapshot of holiday nostalgia. A crumbly, sweet bite takes you back to warm childhood memories and conjures up thoughts of loved ones.

And it doesn’t hurt either when the cookie can win you a cash prize.

We’re excited to kick off the Chicago Tribune’s 36th Annual Holiday Cookie Contest with our call for recipe submissions starting today.

Booming since 1986 (save for a blip in 1999), the cookie contest seeks out the best, tastiest, and most deliciously creative cookies in the Chicago area. Last year’s contest had 35 entrants vying for our $150 cash prize and induction into cookie stardom. The winner? An inventive and perfectly buttered shortbread biscuit with mint and pistachio chocolate pieces.

Readers can enter their recipes until 11:59 p.m. on October 16. Voting will begin Oct. 18, and readers can vote online at chicagotribune.com once a day for the recipes they want to compete for three cash prizes for first, second and third. square. Once voting is complete, the top 12 recipes (with an option to make them a dozen baker finalists, if our team deems a recipe worth adding) will be baked and judged by Tribune journalists and food enthusiasts. dedicated cookies.

We will announce the winners online and in print on November 30.

To enter the Tribune’s 36th Annual Holiday Cookie Contest, submit the recipe – outlining why it’s special – and a photo of the cookies (if you have one) below. Please limit descriptions to 200 words or less.

Bakers can submit their recipes for review until 11:59 p.m. on October 16. Then readers will vote for their favorites and narrow it down to 12 finalists. Tribune reporters will cook and judge the finalists’ recipes and choose three winners. First place wins $250 cash; second place, $150; third place, $50.
